Donald Lee Apprill
Donald Lee Apprill, age 76, of Warrensburg, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 in Warrensburg.
He was born November 26, 1944 in Warrensburg the son of Erwin Joseph and Katherine Lee (Ring) Apprill.
Don was known for his coon hunting to fund his yearly expeditions to Colorado to hunt elk with his friends and family. He liked to spend time golfing with Anna Mae and could occasionally be heard shouting “Rock and Roll!” from across the course. He enjoyed the last several years maintaining the golf course at Tri-County Country Club in Emma, Missouri.
Don is survived by his children Corey (Kim) Apprill, Michelle (Brian) Sartain, Cindy (Tim) Schnell, Kenny (Wilma) Austin, and Jerry (Diane) Austin; his grandchildren Cooper and Collin Apprill, Quinn and Talon Sartain, Nicole (Matt), Samantha, and Parker (Emma) Schnell, Melinda (Brian) Young, Stacy (Jon) Moehlenpah, Angela (Charles) May, Ashley Smith, and Cody (Kira) Austin; 11 great grandchildren; his brothers Larry (Vivian) Apprill and Mike Apprill; 5 nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion dog Chester.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives Sheryl on August 18, 1981 and Anna Mae on February 7, 2017; a sister-in-law Donna Apprill; and a nephew Jon Apprill.
Graveside services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Higginsville at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 25 with Father Gabe Lichteig officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Ring, Clark Ring, Parker Schnell, Matt Colster, Nathan Apprill, and Justin Apprill. Talon Sartain will be an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the H8 Cancer Foundation and can be left in care of the funeral home.
